who went 7-2 with
three saves on the
year with a
team-leading 2.07
ERA, was the 485th
overall pick in the
Major League
Baseball Draft, as
he was selected by
the St. Louis
Cardinals in the
16th Round. Flores,
who also led the
team with 121
strikeouts in 113
innings, was a
two-time 1st Team
All-South Coast
Conference
selection. As a
freshman,
Flores garnered
All-Southern
California honors
after going 5-3 with
nine saves and a
1.63 ERA. He also
struck out 37
batters in 43 2/3
innings.
Flores has already
signed with the
Cardinals and will
report to their
rookie camp in
Johnson City (TN).
During his career
with the Falcons,
Flores helped lead
the team to two
South Coast
Conference
championships and
Cerritos finished
with a combined
63-29 record.
Flores was the lone
Cerritos College
player selected in
the draft, which
took place June 5-6.
He was also the
sixth Falcon player
ever to be drafted
by the Cardinals and
the first since
Peter
Eberhardt
was selected in the
28th Round back in
2003.
