The Cerritos
College baseball team extended their winning
streak to seven games in a row, as they scored
four runs in the top of the 12th inning to beat
El Camino College, 5-1 in a South Coast
Conference game on Tuesday. With the win, the
Falcons remain undefeated in
SCC play at 7-0, while they are now 15-8
overall, while the Warriors fell to 14-7 on the
year at 5-2 in the
SCC. Cerritos will now return home for a
2:30 p.m. game on Thursday and host Mt. San
Antonio College.
In the 12th,
freshman catcher
Mario Romero (Los
Altos HS) led off with a double and
advanced to third base on an infield hit by
sophomore outfielder
Anthony
Topete (Norwalk HS).
After freshman second baseman
Brandon
Pesante (La Mirada HS)
loaded the bases with an infield single,
sophomore shortstop
Jerry Pena
(Los Altos HS) drove in the eventual
game-winning run with a base hit to right.
Sophomore first baseman
Trever Blood
(La Mirada HS) followed with an RBI
sacrifice fly before freshman designated hitter
George Sanchez (Gahr
HS) delivered a run-scoring single of his
own. The final run of the inning came on a
throwing error by Warrior pitcher Erik Morales.

Bosco HS) went the first seven
inning and surrendered the lone run, while
striking out six and walking an
unconventional five batters. The bullpen
of freshmen
Doug
Wogee (Sonora HS),
Tony
Peraza (La Mirada HS)
and
John Garcia (El Rancho
HS) pitched five innings and allowed three
hits and struck out six, with
Peraza earning the win and
Garcia collecting the save.
Topete led the offense with four hits,
while Sanchez had three and Blood contributed
two.
