Jack Brooks is entering his
first season as the Falcons head coach. In
his three years as an assistant Brooks made
immediate impact on the program. The Falcons
won two South Coast Conference titles and
advanced to the playoffs each year. His
duties with the team have included working
with the infielders and hitters, and also
serving as third base coach. Brooks has
coordinated the recruiting activities since
arriving at Cerritos. Prior to coming to the
Falcons, Brooks served as head coach for one
season at Norwalk High School where he led
them to their first CIF playoff victory in
10 years. His first coaching assignment came
under the guidance of his father at La
Mirada High School, where he spent two years
as an assistant.
Brooks prepped at La Mirada High, where he
played both baseball, for his father Kim,
and football, where he played for John Mele.
Brooks played in a total of four CIF title
games, coming away with one title in the
1996 baseball championship. He was named
All-League and All-CIF in both football and
baseball. He then moved on to Loyola
Marymount University where he was an
infielder for four seasons (1998-2001) and
was a part of three West Coast Conference
Championship teams. Brooks graduated with a
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning and with
a Minor in History. Brooks also completed
his Masters in Athletic Administration and
Exercise from Concordia University in 2008.
Brooks was married in July, 2006 to his wife
Gris. Together, they have three sons,
Brayden (5), Bobby (2), and Jack (1). |
