Mary Star of the Sea HS: As a senior, he batted .392 and led the Del Rey League with 27 RBI and was named 1st Team all-league… Hit .289 his junior year with 19 RBI after earning All-Camino Real League honors with a .326 RBI and 17 RBI as a sophomore… Helped the team win the league championship and advanced to the CIF championship game… While on the football team, he was named the league’s Defensive Player of the Year after finishing with 86 tackles and six quarterback sacks… Earned All-CIF and all-league honors as a linebacker… Was an all-league linebacker his junior year…..

Personal: Most memorable moments were when he went 3-for-4 with three RBI against Bishop Montgomery High and when his team upset the top two seeded teams to advance to the CIF championship game his sophomore season… Would like to transfer to a school up north or anywhere in Hawaii… Aspires to coach high school baseball or work on the docks… Played in the Senior League World Series in Bangor, ME… His brother Michael (32) played for the Falcons and then at Cal State Long Beach, where they reached the College World Series… His father also played baseball at San Pedro High… Likes to take road trips in his spare time… Nicknamed “D-Lu”… Has another brother – Freddie (38)… Is the son of Freddie and Madelyn Luera… Born in San Pedro, CA on May 22, 1986…..
