The Cerritos College baseball team found their
bats against Pasadena City College at Jackie
Robinson Field on Tuesday afternoon, clubbing 12
hits and scoring 13 runs. But the pitching
surrendered 16 hits and 15 runs, as the Falcons
dropped their third game in a row, this time a
15-13 South Coast Conference decision. The team
is now 5-10 overall and 1-3 in conference play,
as they travel to El Camino College for a 2:00
p.m. game on Thursday.
Down 15-10 heading into the top of the ninth
inning, Cerritos strung together three runs on
four hits to get to within two runs, but
couldn't generate any more offense. In the
inning, freshman catcher
Nick Gosano (Lakewood HS)
led off with a double and after freshman
outfielder
Matt
Palmer (Gahr HS) singled,
he scored on a double by sophomore second
baseman
Max McEleney (Long Beach Wilson
HS). Sophomore outfielder
Adam
Peacock (La Mirada HS)
then drove in a pair with a double, but was
stranded to end the game.
Five Falcon pitchers combined to allow 15 runs,
with freshman starter
Christian Rodriguez (Norwalk HS)
lasting just 2 1/3 innings. The only pitcher to
throw well was sophomore
Skye Severns (Claremont HS),
who returned to action after missing the last
three weeks of the season with an injury. In his
three innings of work, Severns allowed one run
on two hits, while striking out five.
At the plate, sophomore designated hitter
Jacob
Eaton (Calvary Chapel HS)
went 3-for-4 with three RBI, while Gosano (three
runs, McEleney (two runs) and freshman first
baseman
Tim Soonthangarun (John Glenn
HS), who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, each
collecting multiple hits.
