For the second straight game, a Cerritos College
pitcher tossed a complete game victory. On
Thursday, freshman
Nick
Quezada (Mayfair HS) beat
El Camino College, while on Saturday, it was
sophomore
Chris Villalobos (El Rancho HS)
who finished what he started. Villalobos (4-2)
tossed a five-hit shutout against East
Los Angeles College (5-12, 1-5) and struck out
five, as the Falcons (7-10, 3-3) posted a 4-0
South Coast Conference win. The team will now
return home to host Los Angeles Harbor College
at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday in another conference
game.
With the game scoreless heading into the top of
the eighth inning, Cerritos scored all four runs
on three hits and even left the bases loaded.
Sophomore third baseman
Jake
Mayoral (Rocklin HS) led
off with a walk and was out on a fielder's
choice by sophomore designated hitter
Jacob
Eaton (Calvary Chapel HS).
After a base hit by freshman first baseman
Tim Soonthorngarun (John Glenn
HS), freshman catcher
Nick Gosano (Lakewood HS)
broke the scoreless tie with an RBI single.
Freshman outfielder
Randy
Garcia (Norwalk HS) drove
in a run with a sacrifice fly before an error
led to the third run. Sophomore shortstop
Max McEleney (Long Beach Wilson
HS) drove in the fourth run with a double.
Villalobos, who worked out of jams in the first
inning, fourth inning and left the bases loaded
in the fifth inning, was in control in the other
six innings. He struck out five Huskie batters,
with all five hits being singles.
