Cerritos College pitcher Nick Quezada (Mayfair HS), who was an All-South Coast Conference Honorable Mention selection last season, has signed with Oral Roberts University. Quezada, who will pitch his sophomore season for the Falcons, posted a 3-6 record with a 4.34 ERA in 12 starts, while he shared the team lead with three complete games.
Quezada, a right-handed pitcher, led the team with 79 strikeouts in 87 innings, while he limited hitters to a .271 batting average. His best outing was a complete-game, 13-strikeout performance over Los Angeles Valley College, as the Falcons posted a 4-0 win. Quezada allowed just three hits and one walk in the win. He also struck out nine batters in eight innings against Los Angeles Harbor College, while his final start of the season was a seven-hit, complete game loss to Pasadena City College.
Quezada chose the Golden Eagles over Virginia Tech University, USC and the University of San Diego. He will be joining a team that will be losing four pitchers to graduation after the 2011 season. Oral Roberts is a Division I program and is a member of the Summit League.
