Joining the staff for his
first full season, former Cerritos College
baseball player Phil Van Doren brings with
him experience of playing within the Falcon
system. Last season, he helped the team with
hitting and pitching lessons, but will spend
more time with the team this year. During
his time with Cerritos (2005-06), Van Doren
was named 2nd Team All-South
Coast Conference as a freshman utility
player and was a 1st Team
selection his sophomore year as a utility
player. In his sophomore year, Van Doren led
the team with a .337 batting average, along
with 31 RBI, while he went 4-3 on the mound
with a 2.65 ERA and one save. He was voted
the team’s Most Improved Player his freshman
season.
Van Doren then moved on to Cal State
Dominguez Hills, where he helped the team
advance to the Western Regionals, and was a
Gold Glove recipient. As a prep player at La
Mirada High, Van Doren was named the
Suburban League’s Most Valuable Player as a
senior.
Van Doren earned his Bachelor’s degree in
Communications with an emphasis in Public
Relations from Cal State Dominguez Hills. |
