12.20.06 - Four football players ink
scholarships
Four Cerritos College football
players have signed letters of intent, while three
others are very close to inking their names with their
new universities. Heading that list of signings is
freshman quarterback
Chad Manis
(Los Alamitos HS), who signed a letter of
intent with the University of Utah and will have four
years to play three seasons. Two other members of the

sophomore offensive tackle
Mark
Jean-Louis (Palm Beach Gardens, FL HS)
has signed to play at the University of Mississippi. On
defense, sophomore cornerback

final result was a 31-21 Warrior win that dropped
Cerritos to 3-5 on the season and 1-2 in the division,
while El Camino improved to 7-1 overall and 3-0 in the

10.21.06 - Defense scores twice to
lead Falcons to 41-27 victory over GWC
For the first half of their Mission
Conference National Division game against Golden West
College on Saturday night, the Cerritos College football
team had a difficult time figuring out the option-style
offense the Rustlers were running. The Falcons trailed
17-6 at intermission and needed to make some adjustments
if they planned on getting back into the game. They did
just that, scoring 35 second half points and posted a
41-27 win at LeBard Stadium on the campus of Orange
Coast College. With the win, Cerritos is now 3-4

10.14.06 - Cerritos avoids the shutout
but loses 49-21 to Saddleback
For the first three quarters, it looked
as though the Cerritos College football team may be shut
out for the first time since a 33-0 loss to Fullerton
College back in 1988, or 193 games ago. But, on the
first play of the fourth quarter, freshman back-up
quarterback
AJ Toscano
(El Rancho HS)
connected with sophomore wide receiver
Cory Rhoane
(Gahr HS)
on a 77-yard pass for a touchdown to keep the
non-shutout streak alive. However, at the time of the
touchdown, the Falcons were trailing 42-0 to Saddleback
College, the #2-rated team in the country. With reserves
in for both teams, Cerritos did go on to score 21 fourth
quarter points, but suffered a 49-21 loss. With the
setback, Cerritos drops to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in
the Mission Conference National Division, while the

College...[more]
09.30.06 - Turnovers hurt the Falcons
in 35-28 loss to Long Beach
It was like two heavyweight fighters
slugging it out in the first round of a title fight.
Both the Cerritos College and Long Beach City College
football teams took turns driving down the field in the
first quarter and landed shots that stunned their
opponent. After those few drives, the combatants took
time to feel each other out, looking to take advantage
of their opponent's mistake. Well, with the Falcons
ready to land a stunning blow, the tides were turned and
the Vikings capitalized on an interception in the end
zone and proceeded to drive the ball downfield for an
eventual game-winning touchdown in a 35-28 Mission
Conference victory for Long Beach City. The loss drops
Cerritos to 2-3 overall, and 0-3 on their new field,
while the Vikings improved to 3-2 on the season. With
the win, the Vikings also regained possession of the
Crosstown Cup, a perpetual trophy that is awarded to the
winner of the game. After their bye week, Cerritos will

of it's first three games. Facing Riverside City
College, the #8-rated team in Southern California on
Saturday, the Falcon defense came up with six turnovers
(three interceptions, three fumbles), which spearheaded
a 24-14 Mission Conference crossover victory. The win
evened both teams records at 2-2, with both Cerritos
