NAME: JIM CHAMBERS
POS: SAFETIES

Jim Chambers is in his first year with the Cerritos College coaching staff, but has 25 years of experience. He has logged many seasons as a defensive backs coach, now focusing his attention on the safeties for the Falcons. From 2002-07, Chambers has coached the secondary at El Camino College, where the Falcons have had many battles over the years. During his tenure, Chambers contributed to several Mission Conference championships, while several of his All-American players have made it to the National Football League. Chambers is a graduate of Banning High School (1979), where they won three consecutive Los Angeles City Football Championships (1976-78), finishing in the top five in the state, as well as the top 10 in the country each year.

Chambers then attended San Diego Mesa College as a wide receiver and was selected All-South Coast Conference as a sophomore. He then attended Cal State Northridge, where he was chosen All-Western Football Conference honors as a defensive back in 1982. Chambers went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology in 1984.

He began his coaching career in the San Fernando Valley from 1982-87 and then at Redondo Union High from 1988-89. From 1990-96 Chambers coached at Lynwood High and was appointed their Athletic Director. In November of 1996, Chambers was named the National Football League’s High School Coach of the Week and was later nominated for the NFL High School Coach of the Year. During his coaching career, Chambers has also worked at Los Angeles Harbor College (1997) and most recently at El Camino College (2002-07).

Chambers, who is married and has five children, lives in Cerritos.
