The Cerritos
College coaching staff has announced that seven
players from their 2008 team have signed letters of
intent, with three of them going to the PAC-10,
while five of them are Division I scholarships. The
Falcons went 7-4 on the year and were invited to
play in the prestigious Golden Empire Bowl in
Bakersfield, where they were defeated by Palomar
College, 38-33.
Heading the list
of PAC-10 signees are defensive tackle
Johnny
Tivao (Paramount HS), who
signed with the University of Washington, while
cornerback
LeQuan
Lewis (Artesia HS) signed with
Arizona State University.
Ryan Davis
(Artesia HS), who was a defensive end for
the Falcons, will be lined up as an outside
linebacker at the University of California-Berkeley,
who are coached by former Cerritos quarterback
Jeff Tedford.
Also signing
Division I scholarships are cornerback
Lorenzo
Caldwell (Kaiser HS), who will
play at New Mexico State University, while wide
receiver
Kevin
Williams (Centennial (NV) HS)
will play next season at the University of Utah.
Defensive end
Matt
Agaiava (Lynwood HS) signed
with Sacramento State, while freshman linebacker
Matthew Moody (Sonora HS) will
have three seasons to play at North Dakota State
University.
Tivao and
Moody were named All-State this season, while they
were joined by Davis as 1st Team All-National
Division Central Conference selections. There will
be at least five more signings coming soon in the
next several weeks.
