Returning for his second
stint as a Cerritos College assistant coach,
Bill Murvin will work with the team’s tight
ends. From 1993-96, Murvin was an offensive
assistant coach and spent time with the
offensive linemen, wide receivers and tight
ends, as well as serving as an assistant on
the track and field team. After leaving
Cerritos, Murvin went to Western High School
from 1997-2007 and held various positions
which included Athletic Director
(1997-2000), Activities Director (2002-06),
girl’s basketball head coach, girl’s cross
country coach and girl’s track and field
head coach. In basketball, he rebuilt the
program to become league champions and did
the same with the cross country and track
and field teams.
Murvin the moved on to Santa Ana College,
where he was an assistant coach on the
women’s cross country team and was the
multi-event coach on the track and field
team.
Murvin graduated from St. John Bosco High
and helped the football team reach the CIF
championship game and was also on the track
and field team. He then transferred to
Cerritos College, where he was named the
football team’s Most Valuable Player as a
sophomore in 1977 and then went on to
receive his bachelor’s degree in Biology
with a minor in Chemistry from Cal State
Long Beach. Murvin then earned his Master’s
degree in Sports Medicine from Chapman
University.
Murvin and his wife of 29 years Karen, who
also attended Cerritos College, have two
children – Stephen (24) and Jeff (21) and
reside in Yorba Linda. |
