02.19.07 - Team misses out on
playoffs
The Cerritos College men's
basketball team got the word on Monday they they
were not one of the 20 teams selected to participate
in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. With
an outside chance at garnering the final spot in the
post-season with a win in their last regular season
game, the Falcons dropped an 80-67 decision to
El Camino College. With a win, Cerritos would have
been 12-17 on the year, but would have held sole
possession of second place in the South Coast
Conference South Division. As a result of the loss,
the team dropped into a three-way tie for second
place and an end to their season. It marks the first
time in 24 seasons that the Falcons have missed the
playoffs.02.16.07 - Loss to El Camino ends
season
With the discovery that there
was an outside chance at garnering the last of the
20 post-season positions available with a win over
El Camino College on Friday night, the Cerritos
College men's basketball team came out and played
flat for the first 35 minutes of the game and
suffered an 80-67 loss. A win by the Falcons (11-18
overall) would have secured them sole possession of
second place in the South Coast Conference South
Division, which would have make them an outside
chance at a post-season bid. But, with the loss to
the Warriors (15-12), both teams, along with Los
Angeles Southwest College, finish the division with
4-4 records. The teams will be selected for the
playoffs on Monday afternoon...[more]
