The Cerritos College men's
basketball team received 22 points and six
rebounds from freshman forward
Travele
Jones (Inglewood HS), as
the Falcons posted a 69-58 South Coast
Conference South Division win over Los Angeles
Harbor College at The Aviary on Friday night.
With the victory, the Falcons are now 10-17 on
the season and 3-3 in divisional play, while the
Seahawks dropped to 4-24 and 0-7. Cerritos will
close out their home schedule next Wednesday
when they play host to Los Angeles Southwest
College.
After a tightly contested first half, the
Falcons held a 37-28 advantage, as freshman
forward
DeAndre Ferguson (Lynwood HS)
hit a short jumper before the end of the half to
send Cerritos into the locker room on a high. As
the second half progressed, Cerritos started to
pull away and finally got up by 10 points with
11:47 remaining after freshman guard
Andre Zeumault (Garfield, WA HS)
drained his first of three three-pointers in the
second stanza. The lead was as high as 18 points
(56-38) after Ferguson scored with 7:49 left. LA
Harbor did make a run at the Falcons with a 12-2
run to cut the deficit to 58-50 with 3:29
remaining after Michael Morgan hit a trey.
But in the final few minutes, Zeumault
netted two more three-pointers to secure the
win, as he finished with 12 points and three
assists. Freshman guard
Demetrius Turner (King-Drew HS)
added 14 points and four rebounds, while
Ferguson finished with 11 rebounds to lead the
team. Allen Harris (16 points) and Chris Mark
(15 points, 13 rebounds) paced the Seahawks, who
did not hold a lead the entire game.
