The
Cerritos College men’s basketball team saw their losing
streak increase to a season-long five in a row, after
suffering an 83-54 South Coast Conference cross-over
loss to host Los Angeles City College (13-7) on
Wednesday night. The loss puts the Falcons at 6-14 on
the year, as the team has now lost eight of its last
nine games. Cerritos will now begin South Coast
Conference South Division play on Friday when they play
host to cross-town rival Long Beach City (12-10) at 7:30
p.m.
After fighting to stay close in the
first half (36-28), Cerritos watched the Cubs shoot 61%
from the field in the second half to blow the game wide
open. The Falcons had no answer for Cubs forward Jay
Brown, who hit 14-of-19 shots and finished with a
game-high 33 points, with four others scoring in
double-figures.
Leading the way for Cerritos was
freshman forward
Travele Jones
(Inglewood HS), who had 14 points and four
rebounds, while freshman guard
Keith
Canzater (Martin Luther King HS) came off
the bench to add nine points and five rebounds in his
first action of the new year. The duo of sophomore guard
Lawrence
Robinson (Long Beach Poly HS) and
freshman forward
DeAndre
Ferguson (Lynwood HS) each added seven
points off the bench. |
