Freshman forward
DeAndre
Ferguson (Lynwood HS) hit 11-of-15 field
goals to score a team-high 24 points and added nine
rebounds to help lead the Cerritos College men’s
basketball to an 83-68 South Coast Conference South
Division win at Los Angeles Harbor College on Friday
night. The win by the Falcons (7-15 overall, 1-1 in
division) snapped a season-long six-game losing streak.
The team will look for their second win in a row on
Wednesday when they travel to Los Angeles Southwest
College for a 7:30 p.m. contest.
The Falcons trailed the Seahawks,
40-38 at intermission, but came out in the second half
with freshman guard
Andre
Zeumault (Garfield, WA HS) draining a
three-pointer and another basket to give the team a lead
they would not relinquish the remainder of the game.
Zeumault, who finished with 11 points, five assists and
four rebounds, saw Ferguson hit three straight baskets
late in the game to put the game out of reach. Ferguson
scored 14 of his points in the second half.
Although he was limited to just six
points, freshman forward
Travele Jones
(Inglewood HS) pulled down a game-high 11
rebounds and also had five assists, while freshman guard
Demetrius
Turner (King-Drew HS) came off the bench
to account for 15 points and four rebounds. Also playing
well off the bench was freshman guard
Jerell Elder
(Long Beach Millikan HS), who added nine points. |
