Despite 28 points from freshman guard
Demetrius
Turner
(King-Drew
HS),
the Cerritos College men's basketball team lost 81-77 on
the road to Los Angeles Trade-Tech College on Wednesday.
With the loss, the Falcons drop to 3-3 on the season, as
they have alternated a win and then a loss all season
long. The team will look to pick up a win next Wednesday
night when they play host to Orange Coast College at
6:00 p.m. in a non-conference game.
In a game that went back and forth
the entire way, Turner drained a three-pointer to give
the Falcons a shot at winning the game, by Trade-Tech's Louis Hamilton
netted two free throws to secure the win for the Beavers. The lead
changed hands 13 times on the night, with the teams
going into intermission tied at 44-44, thanks in part to
the 10 points by Turner and 11 by freshman guard
Andre
Zeumault
(Garfield,
WA HS).
When the Falcon shooters went cold in
the second half, they continued to turn to Turner, who
made a trio of three-pointers and was 5-of-9 from the
field, while the remainder of the team was 5-of-19. On
the night, Cerritos was 23-of-57 from the field and
10-of-27 from beyond the arch, with Turner converting
11-of-21 shots.
Zeumault did finish with 14 points,
while freshman guard
Arthur Clark
(Martin
Luther King HS)
added 12 points off the bench. Freshman forward
Travele Jones
(Inglewood
HS)
finished with 11 points, six rebounds and two blocked
shots, while freshman guard
Jerell Elder
(Long
Beach Millikan HS)
dished off six assists and led the team with three
steals. |
