The Cerritos College men’s
basketball team found themselves behind
quickly in their non-conference game at
Ventura College on Saturday night. The end
result was a 78-67 loss, which drops the
team’s record to 3-4 on the season. The
Falcons will now enter the four-team San
Diego Mesa Tournament on Friday and open
against Reedley College.
Unable to contain the duo of Tavaris
Gilbert and Kevin Menner, who each scored 19
points, Cerritos tried to work their way
back into the game with a balanced second
half attack. Although freshman forward
Travele Jones (Inglewood HS)
led all scorers with 24 points, sophomore
guard
Andre Zeumault (Garfield, WA HS)
drained a pair of three pointers and scored
seven of his 10 points in the second half.
The trio of sophomore
Aaron Thompson (Washington Prep
HS), along with freshmen
Jeremiah Barnes (Los Altos HS)
and
Justin Gilliam (Warren HS)
all scored six points in the second half.
On the night, Gilliam led
the team with seven rebounds, while Thompson
(six rebounds, three assists) and Jones (six
rebounds also played well.
