On June 24, 2008, Jesse Teplitzky was named the eighth head coach in Cerritos College men’s basketball history. He takes over a program than has won 1,128 games in their 51-year history, as well as five state championships and 20 conference championships. He was hired after Gary Cain stepped down to assume the position of Coordinator of Judicial Affairs on campus. Prior to taking over the Falcon program, Teplitzky spent the 2007-08 season as the head coach at Santa Monica College, who saw their season end at the hands of Cerritos in the Southern California Regional Playoffs. He led the Corsairs to a 17-14 record, which was the school’s first winning season and playoff appearance since 2002.

Prior to his one year with Santa Monica College as their head coach, Teplitzky spent time as an assistant coach under Mike Dunlap at Metro State College in Denver, CO. While serving on the staff, Metro State won two NCAA Division II championships in 2000 and 2002 and won four consecutive Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference championships. For his part during the most successful time in the school’s history, Teplitzky was honored as an inductee into the Metro State Athletics Hall of Fame in 2006. After his time with Metro State, Teplitzky joined John Peterson’s staff at Ohlone College in Fremont, CA, where he spent three seasons and helped lead the team to the Coast Conference North Division championship in two out of three seasons. He then moved on to Chabot College for two years under head coach Denny Aye before taking over the head coaching position at Santa Monica College. For short time during the 2005 season, Teplitzky took over as the interim head coach at Chabot College.

Teplitzky attended Bishop Machebeuf High School in Denver, Co, where he was an all-league performer in basketball and baseball, while also playing on the football team. He then transferred to Metropolitan State College of Denver, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Human Performance and Sport in 2000. He then earned his Master’s degree in Physical Education from the University of Northern Colorado in 2002. Teplitzky, 30, is single and resides in Santa Monica.
