CERRITOS BLOWS OUT LA SOUTHWEST, 94-75 |
With just two regular season games remaining,
the Cerritos College men's basketball team moved
one step closer to a rematch with Long Beach
City College, who provided the Falcons with
their lone South Coast Conference South Division
loss. On Wednesday, Cerritos dismantled Los
Angeles Southwest College, 94-75 to move to
16-10 overall and 5-1 in the division. They will
host El Camino College at 7:30 p.m. before their
finale with the Vikings next Wednesday.
In opening up a big first half lead, the Falcons
looked to sophomore forward
Marcellus Jackson (Independence
HS), who scored 13 of his team-high 17
points in the first half, while he finished with
11 rebounds and three blocked shots. Cerritos
slowly started pulling away early in the game
and took a 45-32 lead into halftime. They saw
that lead continue to swell, as everyone made
contributions.
Sophomore
Brandon
Hicks (Bellflower HS) came
on in the second half and scored 11 of his
career-high 13 points, as he netted his first
six shots. Additionally, freshman guard
BJ Denker (North Torrance HS)
scored seven points, while sophomore guard
Ken
Brown (Soldan (MO) HS/Southwest
Tennessee CC) came off the bench and scored
14 points, along with five rebounds and four
assists.
Five players scored in double-figures for the
Falcons, including freshman forward
Willie Edwards (Moreno Valley
HS), who had 15 points and five caroms,
while sophomore guard
Jeremy
Pope (Mayfair HS)
contributed 10 points and four assists. Bryce
Lane (19 points) and Dontae Clark (18
points) led the Cougars.
