Trailing 35-34 at halftime in their non-conference game at Fullerton College on Friday night, the Cerritos College men's basketball team evened their record at 2-2 with a 74-65 win. The Falcons received a balanced attack in the win, which was aided by 20 points and nine rebounds off the bench by freshman forward Darius Williams (Long Beach Jordan HS). The team will now enter the Irvine Valley Tournament and open with a 2:00 p.m. game against Ventura College.
In addition to the 20 points (8-of-10 shooting) from Williams, the Falcons also received 13 points from sophomore guard Nick Sanchez (Long Beach Wilson HS/Antelope Valley College), as well as 12 points and four rebounds by freshman guard Keith Wiltz (J.W. North HS).
Sophomore center Addaryll Thomas (Long Beach Poly HS) controlled the board with a game-high 12 caroms, to go along with his eight points, with freshman guard Anthony Scott (Dominguez HS) contributing nine points and five rebounds off the bench. Freshman guard Robert Gill (Narbonne HS) dished out a team-high four assists to go with his eight points in the win.
