11.06.09 - Close race nets Cerritos sixth place

With just 35 points separating second
place from sixth place at the Southern California
Championships at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday, the
Cerritos College men's cross country team did their best
for some late race kicking to try and move up a place or
two. But the Falcons wound up in sixth place with 169
team points and will now advance to the State
Championships, which will take place on November 21 at
Woodward Park in Fresno. San Bernardino Valley College
won the championship with 56 team points, while Cerritos
was just edged out by Orange Coast College (134 team
points), Glendale College (140), Mt. San Antonio College
(160) and El Camino College (165). The latter two are

10.31.09 - Cerritos comes in third place at
conference championships
Led by a fourth place finish by
freshman
Jason Zapien
(El Rancho HS), the Cerritos College men's
cross country team finished in third place at the South
Coast Conference Championships, which took place
on Saturday at Legg Lake in El Monte. The Falcons ended
with 64 team points and trailed only co-champions Mt.
San Antonio College and El Camino College, who shared
the title with 45 team points. The team will now travel
to Mt. San Antonio College for the Southern California

10.17.09 - Falcons place eighth at Preview Meet
In a tight finish for some of the top
spots at the 33-team Southern California Preview Meet at
Mt. San Antonio College on Saturday, the Cerritos
College men's cross country team finished in eighth
place. The Falcons compiled 248 team points and just
missed out on overtaking Southwestern College, who came
in seventh place with 244 team points. However, Cerritos
just got past Oxnard College, who wound up with 249
points, which put them in ninth place. After a week off,
the team will run in the South Coast Conference

10.02.09 - Cerritos finishes in second place at
Crystal Springs
On the strength of some strong
individual finishes, the Cerritos College men's cross
country team came in second place at the Crystal Springs
Invitational, which took place on Friday at the College
of San Mateo. The Falcons finished with 90 team points
and were just edged out for first place by College of
the Sequoias, who won the meet with 72 team points.
Cerritos was the lone school from Southern California to
compete in the meet, which consisted of 15 school from
Northern California. The Falcons will now run in the
Brubaker Invitational on Saturday, which will take place

09.19.09 - Falcons take fifth place at OC Classic
The Cerritos College men's cross
country team finished in fifth place out of 21 schools
at the Orange Coast Invitational on Saturday by
compiling 193 teams points. The host Pirates won the
meet with 29 team points, while a pair of South Coast
Conference opponents - Mt. San Antonio College (3rd
place, 110 team points) and El Camino College (4th; 128)
finished ahead of the Falcons. The team will now take a
week off before competing in the Crystal Springs

09.12.09 - Experience helps Cerritos take second
place
Led by a group of sophomores, the
Cerritos College men's cross country team finished
fourth out of 26 schools at the Fresno Invitational on
Saturday. The Falcons, who compiled 189 team points, had
sophomores finish in five of the top seven spots. Orange
Coast College won the meet with 36 team points, while
Glendale College (114 team points) and College of the
Sequoias (147) finished ahead of Cerritos. The squad
will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday
at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa...[more]
08.29.09 - Strong finish leads Falcons to second
place
Cerritos College freshman cross
country runner Jason Zapien made the
most of his first collegiate race, as he led the pack
and posted a first place finish at the UC San Diego
Opener on Saturday. Zapien, who beat out UCSD's Brian
Knight by just three seconds, finished in a time of
22.49.7, which helped the Falcons come in second place
out of the three teams that competed. As a team,
Cerritos had 18 of the 37 entries in the race and
finished with 44 team points. The host Triton won the
meet with 20 teams points, with Point Loma Nazarene
