11.17.07 - Lone runner ends season at
state championships
Cerritos College sophomore
cross country runner Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood
HS) concluded his Falcon career on Saturday in
Fresno at the State Championships. He completed the
4-mile course at Woodward Park in 73rd place
out of 200 runners with a time of 21.59.
Clifford-Sorenson was the only Falcon runner to advance
to the state championship, which was his second

11.03.07 - Falcons to send one runner
to state championships
When the South Coast
Conference men’s and women’s cross country championships
were postponed two weeks ago due to the poor air quality
from the fires, it was decided that those conferences
that weren’t able to run, would send everyone to the
Southern California Championships, which were moved to
Mt. San Antonio College and run on Saturday. After
completing the race, the times would not only comprise
the respective conference championship results but also
the Southern California Championship results. It also
meant that there would be a great many more runners at

10.25.07 - Conference meet cancelled
due to air quality
The South Coast Conference
men’s and women’s cross country championships, which was
scheduled to be run this Saturday morning at Hartwell
Park in Lakewood, has been cancelled due to the poor air
quality from the recent fires. As a result, all teams
will move on to the Southern California Championships
November 3 at Irvine Regional Park and both the
conference and SoCal Championship scores will be
tabulated. The conferences that have not run their
championships, will have their team scores tabulated
based on their performance at the SoCal Championships,
which will also determine which teams and individuals
advance to the state championships.
10.13.07 - Cerritos competes well
without top runner
Running in the Santa Barbara
Invitational on Saturday, the Cerritos College men’s
cross country team came in ninth place, but that was
only because they competed without their best runner,
sophomore Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood
HS). The Falcons amassed 237 team points, while
there were 16 teams in the invitational. Fresno City
College won the meet with 83 team points, while
conference foe El Camino College placed third with 100
points. The team will now take a week off before they
run in the South Coast Conference Championships at

Southern California at the Southern California Preview
Meet at Irvine Regional Park on Saturday, Cerritos
College sophomore men’s cross country athlete Daniel
Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood HS) showed why he
is considered one of the elite. Clifford-Sorenson
finished the four-mile run in a time of 20:45.80, which
placed him fifth out of the 298 runners and helped the
Falcons come in 11th place as a team.
Cerritos finished with 335 team points, as College of
the Canyons won the meet with 83 points. Three other
South Coast Conference teams finished ahead of the
Falcons in the team scoring, with Mt. San Antonio
College placing third with 174 points...[more]
09.24.07 - Cerritos comes in third
place at Orange Coast
Despite a heavy rainfall the
night before, the Cerritos College men’s cross country
team was able to run as a cohesive unit and came in
third place at the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday
morning. The Falcons finished behind a very good San
Bernardino Valley College team, who had five of the top
nine finishers, while the host Pirates came in second
place. The team will now have a week off before
competing in the Southern California Preview meet, which
will be held October 6 at Irvine Park...[more]
09.17.07 - Falcons finish 19th at
Fresno Invitational
The Cerritos College men’s
cross country team compiled 302 team points at the
Fresno Invitational on Saturday, which earned them a 10th
place finish out of the 25 teams that competed. The
Falcons will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic at
9:00 a.m. this Saturday. College of the Canyons won the
event with 88 teams points, while two South Coast
Conference teams finished ahead of Cerritos...[more]
09.04.07 - Season starts strong for
Clifford-Sorenson
Continuing his success from his freshman
season, Cerritos College cross country runner Daniel
Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood HS) opened his
sophomore year by finishing in 15th place at
the Cal State Fullerton Invitational at Carbon Canyon
Park in Break on Saturday. Despite the heat,
Clifford-Sorenson was the 15th runner to
cross the finish line in the 8K run, and was the first
community college runner to finish. His time of 26:58
helped the Falcons come in 10th place out of
16 teams with 301 team points. The only community
college team to finish higher than Cerritos was Mt. San
Antonio College, who came in eighth place...[more]
