Continuing his success from his freshman
season, Cerritos College cross country runner Daniel
Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood HS) opened his
sophomore year by finishing in 15th place at
the Cal State Fullerton Invitational at Carbon Canyon
Park in Break on Saturday. Despite the heat,
Clifford-Sorenson was the 15th runner to
cross the finish line in the 8K run, and was the first
community college runner to finish. His time of 26:58
helped the Falcons come in 10th place out of
16 teams with 301 team points. The only community
college team to finish higher than Cerritos was Mt. San
Antonio College, who came in eighth place.
The team will
now run in the UC Irvine Invitational at 9:00 a.m. on
Saturday at Central Park.
There were some
wide gaps between Falcon runners, as sophomore
Jonathan Dillard (Lakewood HS) was the next
runner to finish and came in 60th place
overall in a time of 28:23. He was followed by freshman
Johnathan Martinez in 79th place with
a time of 29:10. The duo of freshman Armando Pina
(Kennedy HS) and sophomore Jopseh Aranda (Norwalk
HS) closed out the team scoring for the meet. Pina
finished in 30:58, with Aranda right behind at 31:20.
The remainder of
the team consisted of freshman Erick Ordonez (Loara
HS; 136th, 31:32), sophomore Miguel
Ortega (John Glenn HS; 142nd,
32:06) and freshman Qualan Reed (Cabrillo HS;
148th, 32:51). |
