The Cerritos College men’s cross country
team compiled 302 team points at the Fresno Invitational
on Saturday, which earned them a 10th place
finish out of the 25 teams that competed. The Falcons
will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic at 9:00
a.m. this Saturday. College of the Canyons won the event
with 88 teams points, while two South Coast Conference
teams finished ahead of Cerritos.
Leading the team
was sophomore Daniel Clifford-Sorenson (Lakewood
HS), who placed ninth overall in the race out of 268
runners with a time of 21:09. Although the times were
close, there was a large gap between Clifford-Sorenson
and the next Cerritos runner to finish due to the large
number of runners. Sophomore Jonathan Dillard (Lakewood
HS) finished the four-mile race in 22:06, which was
good for 48th place, with sophomore Casey
McCombs (Long Beach Wilson HS) posting a time
of 22:26, which put him in 68th place.
Freshman Giovanni Popoca, who came in 82nd
place in 22:42 and freshman Erick Ordonez (Loara
HS), whose time of 22:58 put him in 95th
place, rounded out the team scoring for Cerritos.
Rounding out the
remainder of the Falcon team that competed in the race
included sophomore Miguel Ortega (John Glenn
HS; 107th place; 23:19), freshman
Armando Pina (Kennedy HS; 120th;
23:27), freshman Qualaun Reed (Cabrillo HS;
156th; 23:52), sophomore Joseph Aranda
(Norwalk HS; 174th; 24:03) and
freshman Jonathan Martinez (185th;
24:24). |
