The Cerritos
College men's cross country team finished in ninth
place in the Fullerton Invitational on Monday, which
was their first meet of the season. The Falcons
compiled 228 team points and finished third out of
the four community college teams that competed in
the race. Cerritos will now travel to the Irvine
Invitational, which will take place at 9:00 a.m. on
Saturday.
It was sophomore
Geovanni
Popoca that was the first Falcon
runner to finish the
8K run at Carbon Canyon Park in Brea, as he
placed 44th overall with a time of 28:18.70. A block
of three runners, led by freshman Angel
Aguirre, were next for Cerritos, with
Aguirre's time of 29:09.10 placing him 67th overall.
He was joined by freshman Patrick Schwab
in 69th place at 29:15.70, while freshman
Jose Amador came in 71st place in 29:22.90.
Freshman Russell Kelly rounded out
the team's score, as he came in 82nd place overall
with a finishing time of 29:53.70.
The remainder of
the Falcon team consisted of sophomore
Dashan Craft (30:04.00; 87th place);
freshman Kyle
Bogda (30:11.80; 88th place);
sophomore
Qualaun Reed
(30:26.20; 93rd place); freshman
Torion Bailey
(30:26.60; 94th place) and freshman John
Gaynor (32:05.30; 106th place).
