11.20.10 - Cerritos finishes 23rd at State Championships

11.06.10 - Team takes 15th place at SoCal Championships
Led by sophomore Gabriel Hilbert (Kennedy HS), who came in 22nd place out of 207 runners, the Cerritos College men's track and field finished in 15th place at the Southern California Championships, which took place at Mission Bay Park in San Diego on Saturday. The Falcons finished with 432 team points out of the 28 teams that competed in the event. They will now take a week off before competing in the State Championships, which will take place at Woodward Park in Fresno...[more]

10.29.10 - Falcons slip to sixth place at conference championships
Expecting to compete for one of the top three positions, the Cerritos College men's cross country team slipped all the way to sixth place in the South Coast Conference Championships at Mt. San Antonio College on Friday. The Falcons, who finished with 144 team points, were edged by both Long Beach City (132 team points) and Pasadena City College (137 team points), with El Camino College winning the title with 26 team points. Cerritos won the conference championship in 2008. The team will now compete in the Southern California Championships, which take place next Saturday at Mission Bay Park in San Diego...[more]

10.15.10 - Cerritos comes in fifth place in Santa Barbara
With the starting line situated at the edge of the Pacific Ocean, it would be easy for any of the Cerritos College men's cross country runners to be distracted by the scenery. But the Falcons were focused on the job at hand, which was running the four-mile course at Leadbetter Beach during the Santa Barbara City Invitational, which took place on Friday. The Falcons finished with 180 team points to come in fifth place out of the 13 teams that ran the race. San Bernardino Valley College won the event with 42 team points, while South Coast Conference opponent Los Angeles Trade-Tech College took third place. After a week off, the team will compete in the South Coast Conference Championships, which will be held at Mt. San Antonio College...[more]

10.09.10 - Falcons take 13th place at SoCal Preview Meet
Getting a chance to run against all of the teams in Southern California for the first time all season, the Cerritos College men's cross country took 13th place out of 30 schools at the SoCal Preview Meet, which was held at Balboa Bay Park in San Diego on Saturday. Three schools finished ahead of the Falcons from the South Coast Conference while their 411 team points saw them finish behind third place Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (98 team points), seventh place El Camino (208 team points) and Mt. San Antonio College, who came in 10th place with 301 team points. Cerritos will now run in the Santa Barbara Invitational on Friday at Ledbetter Beach...[more]

10.01.10 - Team finishes fourth out of 12 teams
As the only Southern California school competing in the Crystal Springs Invitational in San Mateo on Friday, the Cerritos College men's cross country team turned in a fourth place finish out of 12 schools. Winning the invitational was Hartnell College, who had 66 team points. The Falcons, who finished with 110 team points at the invitational, will now compete in the SoCal Preview Meet, which will take place at Mission Bay Park in San Diego on Saturday...[more]

09.18.10 - Cerritos runner comes in first place
Cerritos College sophomore Gabriel Hilbert (Kennedy HS) was the first runner to cross the finish line at the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday, as he completed the 4-mile course in a time of 20:23.61. His time was four seconds faster than second place finisher Hugo Gutierrez of Orange Coast College and helped the Falcons come in fifth place as a team out of 20 schools. As a team, Cerritos finished with 160 points, with the host Pirates winning the meet with 39 team points. After a week off, the team will compete in the Crystal Springs Invitational in San Mateo...[more]

09.10.10 - Falcons finish sixth at Fresno Invitational
In an early-season opportunity to get acquainted with the course that will be used for the state championships in November, the Cerritos College men's cross country team finished in sixth place out of 24 teams at the Fresno Invitational. The Falcons had two runners finish in the top 20 over the four-mile course and will now compete in the Orange Coast Classic on Saturday. The team finished with 213 team points, with American River College winning the meet with 54 team points. South Coast Conference opponent Mt. San Antonio College finished in fourth place with 163 points...[more]

09.03.10 - Cross country opens season in San Diego
Cross country opens season in San DiegoIn their first meet of the season, the Cerritos College men's cross country team drove down to San Diego and faced two four-year universities at the UC San Diego Opener. The Falcons, who entered 14 runners, came in second place with 58 team points, as the host Tritons won with 16 team points. Pt. Loma Nazarene University was the other college that competed. Cerritos will now head north to compete in the Fresno Invitational on Friday.

Leading the way for the team was sophomore Gabriel Hilbert (Kennedy  HS), who finished the race in 22:43.3 and finished fifth overall, as he trailed four UCSD runners. The next Falcon to finish was freshman Robert Duran (Whittier HS) in 14th place overall in a time of 23:11.3, while freshman Charles Dale crossed the finish line as the 19th overall runner and was clocked in 23:39.6...[more]
