As a senior, he was voted the team’s Most
Valuable Player and earned 1st Team
All-San Gabriel Valley League honors… Registered
seven goals with five assists that year…
Selected 2nd Team all-league as a
junior after scoring seven goals and adding
seven assists… Also played two years on the
baseball team…..
Personal:
Most memorable moment was when his team defeated
rival Warren High in his final game in high
school… His brother Adrian (18) played baseball
at Downey High, while his sister Karina (10)
plays club soccer… Nicknamed “Radio”… Is the son
of Mario and Maria Mendez… Born in Compton, CA
