Entering his second year on
the Falcon coaching staff is Raul Ruiz, who
was instrumental in helping the team win the
state championship last year. Ruiz’s college
coaching background includes working with
the Long Beach Soccer Club, as well as
serving as an assistant with the men’s
program at Long Beach City College and
serving as the head coach at Compton
College. During his time with those
programs, he helped produce players that
went on to play at the NCAA Division I
level, as well as in Major League Soccer. In
addition to working with the Falcons, Ruiz
is also the Beach Futbol Club Girls Coaching
Director. Ruiz is also a cuerver certified
instructor in Southern California.
As a player, Ruiz was a local product,
earning the Moore League Most Valuable
Player honor in 1986 while playing at Long
beach Millikan High and was a 1st
Team All-CIF selection. He went on to Long
Beach City College and was named the team’s
MVP before transferring to Cal State
Bakersfield. Ruiz earned his Bachelor of
Arts degree in Physical Education from Cal
State Dominguez Hills. He went on to play
professionally at all levels in Mexico for
Victoria FC, Autlan, Bachilleres FC and
Atlas FC reserves.
Ruiz founded Revolution Futbol Club in the
mid-1990’s, a club that turned out many
successful soccer players in community. He
has also worked for the Cal South Olympic
Development Program, working with some of
the finest soccer players in the country.
Ruiz currently holds a USSF (United State
Soccer Federation) “A” National Coaching
License and has a Fitness Instruction
Certificate in Physical Education. |
