The Cerritos College men’s
swimming team competed in their first scoring meet of
the season and placed 18th at the Mt. San
Antonio Invitational on Saturday after recording 53 team
points. The Falcons had a couple of solid performances
and will now take part in their first South Coast
Conference meet of the season when they travel to Long
Beach City College on Friday for a 3:00 p.m. match
against the Vikings and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College.
Leading the way for the
Falcons was sophomore
Paul Tse
(Kennedy HS), who came in second place in the
200-yard individual medley in a time of 2:07, while he
was a 14th place finisher in the 100-yard
backstroke and came in 16th place in the
100-yard butterfly. He also swam the first leg of the
400-yard medley relay race, which also included
sophomore
Corey Pettis (Warren HS), freshman
Tomas Watson
(Valley, NM HS) and freshman
Jose Aguirre
(Downey HS), as that quartet placed 11th
overall.
Pettis also did a good job in
the 1650-yard freestyle, placing 11th in a
time of 18:58, while Watson placed 13th in
19:36 and sophomore
Erik
Mireless (Downey HS) finished in 17th
place at 20:55. Pettis was an 18th place
finisher in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:08. |
