The Cerritos College men’s
swimming team fared well at the Cuesta Invitational,
which is one of the biggest meets of the season. The
Falcons had three of their relay teams crack the top 20,
while several individual swimmers did very well. The
Falcons now resume South Coast Conference action on
Friday, as they travel to Pasadena City College to face
the Lancers and El Camino College.
As for the 200-yard medley
relay team of freshman
Jose Aguirre
(Downey HS), sophomores
Cory Pettis
(Warren HS) and
Paul Tse
(Kennedy HS) and freshman
Tomas Watson
(Valley, NM HS), they placed 11th
overall in a time of 1:46.66, two seconds off their
previous best time. As a team, the Falcons continue to
see their individual and team times shrink, as the
quartet of Aguirre, Tse, Watson and sophomore
Kevin Armijo
(Western HS) came in 18th place in the
200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:35.17. Aguirre,
Armijo, Tse and Watson comprised the 400-yard freestyle
relay team that came in 19th place in
3:34.43, which was a drop-off from their best time.
Tse did a solid job swimming
in individual events, placing 13th in the
100-yard freestyle race in a time of 49.33, while his
time of 58.55 was good for 15th in the
100-yard backstroke. Aguirre finished in 19th
place in the 200-yard backstroke with a clocking of
2:12.15, while Pettis excelled at his specialty, the
200-yard breaststroke, as he placed 12th in a
time of 2:22.85. |
