Cerritos College men’s
sophomore swimmer
Paul Tse
(Kennedy HS) will serve as the team’s lone
representative in the State Championships this weekend
at Pasadena City College after his performance at the
South Coast Conference Championships this past weekend.
The Falcons, which placed fifth in the team scoring,
will see Tse compete in the 200-yard individual medley,
100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke. Long Beach
City won the team championships, while Mt. San Antonio,
Chaffey and El Camino also finished ahead of Cerritos.
In the conference
championships, Tse placed third in the 100-yard
backstroke with a time of 55.47, while his teammate,
freshman
Jose Aguirre (Downey HS) came in eighth
place at 1:00.29. It was another third place for Tse in
the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 47.51, with
freshman
Tomas Watson (Valley, NM HS) coming in 11th
place with a time of 50.91. He came in third place once
again in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of
1:59.50.
In other events, the Falcon
200-yard freestyle relay team of Tse, Aguirre, sophomore
Erik
Mireless (Downey HS) and Watson came in
fourth place in 1:31.90, while the 200-yard medley relay
team placed third in 1:42.42 and consisted of Tse,
sophomore
Corey Pettis (Warren HS), Watson and
Aguirre. Watson was a sixth place finisher in the
200-yard freestyle in 1:52.55, while Pettis came in
sixth in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.62. Pettis
also excelled in the 200-yard breaststroke, as he placed
third in a time of 2:18.67 and just missed out on
qualifying for the state championships by .11, while
Aguirre swam well in the 200-yard backstroke and placed
fifth in a time of 2:07.42. |
