title and sets three records

Kostianis (Downey HS) broke three
individual school records and swam a leg of another that
broke a record at the state championships this past
weekend at Ohlone College. Kostianis also went on to win
the state championship in the 200-yard butterfly, while
coming in a close second place in the 100-yard
backstroke and third place in the 100-yard butterfly. As
a result, the Falcons placed 12th at the state
championships with 108 team points, with Orange Coast

05.01.07 - Four relay teams added to
state championships
After checking all of the times from the
conference meets throughout the state, it was discovered
that a minor mistake was made and the end result is that
four of the Cerritos College men's swimming relay teams
have advanced to the State Championships, which will be
held this weekend at Ohlone College...[more]
04.28.07 - Young team comes away with
conference championship
Although the Cerritos College men's
swimming team lost their dual match against Chaffey
College earlier in the year, the Falcons saved their
best for last as they captured the South Coast
Conference Championship this past weekend. The Falcons,
who went 6-1 in SCC action, compiled 664 team points,
which beat out both Chaffey (630.5) and Long Beach City
College, who had 614 team points. Along the way during
the championships, Cerritos had three of their swimmers
qualify for the State Championships, which will be held
next weekend at Ohlone College. Adding to the
accomplishment in winning the conference championship,
it was done by a team that is comprised of all freshman,

04.21.07 - Freshman diver advances to
state championships

Mayfield (Norwalk HS) accumulated
316.00 points in the 1-meter competition at the Southern
California Diving Championships on Saturday and has
advanced to the state championships. Mayfield, who won
the South Coast Conference championship, finished fifth
in Southern California and will now move on to Ohlone
College for the state championships, which will be held

04.14.07 - Men place sixth at Pasadena
Invitational
The Cerritos College men's swimming team amassed 244
team points at the Pasadena Invitational this past
weekend and came in sixth place out of 20 schools. The
Falcons had several outstanding performances at the
invitational, led by freshman

the top five in three different races, while also
swimming on three relay teams that finished in the top
10. The 200-yard medley relay team finished in second
place, which was the best finish of any individual or

03.30.07 - Win over Long Beach City
secures share of lead
The Cerritos College men's swimming team
won a huge match toward staying in the hunt for the
South Coast Conference championship, as they defeated
cross-town rival Long Beach City College, 69-61 on
Friday in the Falcon Pool. With the win, the Falcons are
now 5-0 in SCC action and share first place with Chaffey
College, while the Vikings dropped to 3-2. The worst
Cerritos can do now is place second in the conference,
while a loss could have dropped them down to third place
after the conference championships. Cerritos finishes
the conference season next Friday, when they travel to
Rio Hondo College to face the host Roadrunners and
Chaffey College, who is also undefeated in conference

03.22.07 - Falcons record two
conference wins
The Cerritos College men's swimming team
won nine of the 15 events in their three-way South Coast
Conference meet at home on Thursday against Pasadena
City College and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College. The end
result were wins against Pasadena City (88-39) and LA
Trade-Tech (108-15), which improves the team's record to
4-0 overall and in the conference. The Falcons will now
host Long Beach City College next Friday at 2:30 p.m.

03.17.07 - Nikos Kostianis wins three
events at Cuesta

Kostianis (Downey HS) made himself known
across the state with his performance at the Cuesta
Invitational this past weekend. He helped catapult the
Falcons into ninth place at the invitational by winning
three events and swimming a leg of several relay races.
Kostianis won the 200-yard butterfly in 1:55.88, which
was almost four seconds ahead of the second place
swimmer, while he squeezed out a win in the 100-yard
butterfly with a time of 52.04. In the 100-yard
backstroke, his time of 53.42 was over a second faster
that his next competitor and has a chance to break all
three school records by the end of the season...[more]
03.07.07 - Conference starts off with
two wins for Falcons
The Cerritos College men's swimming team
opened South Coast Conference competition on Wednesday
with two victories against El Camino College (87-43) and
Mt. San Antonio College (67-64). The Falcons will now
head up north to compete in the Cuesta Invitational on

SAC Invitational

Friend, the Cerritos College men's swimming team
came in fifth place at the Mt. San Antonio Invitational
over the weekend. The Falcons compiled 251 team points,
which were more than the three other South Coast
Conference teams in the meet. Cerritos will now compete
in a conference meet on Thursday against El Camino and

In an early-season competition to display
the South Coast Conference divers, both the Cerritos
College men's and women's divers came out and performed
