05.26.08 - Swimmers earn All-American honors
A trio of Cerritos College men’s swimmers, along with one relay team, have earned All-American honors in a list that was recently released. Those who finished with one of the top 16 times in each event earned All-American status. Leading the list was sophomore Nikos Kostianis (Downey HS), who earned All-American honors in three events and in the relay race, while both sophomore Tristan Friend (Liberty Christian HS) and freshman Louie Espinoza (Montebello HS) were All-Americans in one event and also swam on the relay race. 05.03.08 - Falcon career finishes with three state titles
Concluding one of the most storied careers in Cerritos College men's swimming history, sophomore Nikos Kostianis (Downey HS) won his third state championship of the year and fourth in his career, as he captured the 200-yard butterfly on the final day of the California Community College Men's Swimming Championships, which took place at Saddleback College. Kostianis, who won the 100-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly on the second day and set new school records in each race, finished off the trifecta by breaking another of his records in defending the 200-yard butterfly championship he won last year. Kostianis checked in with a blistering time of 1:49.62, which was not only 3.49 seconds faster than the second place finisher, it also obliterated his old record o 1:51.48 that he set in last year's state championship...[more]

05.02.08 - Nikos Kostianis wins two state titles
Last year, Cerritos College men's swimmer Nikos Kostianis (Downey HS) won the state championship in the 200-yard butterfly, while he placed second in the 100-yard backstroke and third in the 100-yard butterfly. After the second day of the California Community College Swimming State Championships, which are taking place at Saddleback College, Kostianis has already bested his finishes in the two races he didn't win. On Friday, not only did Kostianis win the state championship in the 100-yard butterfly and 100-yard backstroke, he broke his own school records along the way. The Cerritos College men's swimming team finished the three-day South Coast Conference Tournament with a second place finish with 643 team points, trailing only Chaffey College, who won the championship with 791 team points. After two days of swimming at the South Coast Conference Championships, the Cerritos College men’s swimming team is holding steady in second place with 448 team points. They lead third place El Camino College by 101 points, while Chaffey College is in the lead with 566 team points. 04.19.08 - Falcons get two fourth place finishes
Cerritos College freshman diver Nashon Hull (Bellflower HS) placed fourth in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions at the South Coast Conference Diving Championships, which were held at El Camino College over the weekend. All of the divers from Southern California were also on hand, with Hull coming in 14th place in the 3-meter and 18th place in the 1-meter. 04.14.08 - Cerritos places sixth at Pasadena Invitational
Competing against some of the tougher teams in Southern California, the Cerritos College men’s swimming team compiled 258 team points to come in sixth place at the Pasadena Invitational over the weekend. Diablo Valley College won the invitational with 727.5 team points, while a pair of South Coast Conference teams finished ahead of the Falcons. The Cerritos College men's swimming team improved their record to 6-1 on the year after defeating Pasadena City College (82-47) and Los Angeles Trade-Tech College (118-10) in a three-team South Coast Conference meet on Friday. 03.28.08 - Team wins 12 of 15 events to post victory
The Cerritos College men's swimming team won 12 of the 15 events that were held in their South Coast Conference meet on Friday at Mt. San Antonio College. As a result, the Falcons posted a 78-53 win to improve their season record to 4-1 with just one conference meet remaining. The Cerritos College men's swimming team pulled themselves into a second place tie in the South Coast Conference after defeating both Long Beach City College (79-51) and Rio Hondo College (116-14) on Friday. On the strength of their relay teams and three great finishes by sophomore Nikos Kostianos (Downey HS), the Cerritos College men's swimming team came in ninth place at the Cuesta Invitational over the weekend after compiling 146 team points. The Cerritos College men’s swimming team opened South Coast Conference action on Friday and split their results against two opponents. 03.01.08 - Cerritos places sixth at Mt. San Antonio Invitational
On the strength of two first place and a second place finish by sophomore Nikos Kostianis (Downey HS), the Cerritos College men’s swimming team finished in sixth place in the 22-team Mt. San Antonio Invitational over the weekend. The Falcons compiled 228.5 team points and beat the four of the five other South Coast Conference teams that were in the meet. Ventura College won the meet with 546.5 team points, with SCC opponent Chaffey College placing second with 470.5 team points. 02.23.08 - Falcons get season started with conference meet
Competing in an informal South Coast Conference Pentathlon, the Cerritos College men’s swimming team got a chance to see some of the other competition they will be facing this season. There were several very strong performances, although the squad was not at full strength. Missing the multi-event meet was sophomore Nikos Kostianis (Downey HS), who qualified for the state championships last season in seven events and won the 200-yard butterfly.
