Cerritos Swimming (2007):
Specialized in the 100-yard, 200-yard and
500-yard freestyle…..
Cerritos Water Polo (2006-07):
Spent the last two seasons on the Falcon water
polo team… Earned 2nd Team All-South
Coast Conference honors both years… Had 19
goals, a team-high 49 assists and 22 steals on
the season… Recorded a season-high five assists
against both American River College and Merced
College… Posted three goals and three assists
against both Ventura College and Concordia
University… Finished with a season-high four
steals against Mt. San Antonio College and
dished out four assists against Mt. San Antonio
and Riverside College… Finished third on the
team with 39 goals and was second with 45
assists, while adding 31 steals…..
El Rancho HS:
Spent three seasons on the swimming and water
polo teams in high school… Was the swim team’s
Most Valuable Player as a junior and senior,
while earning the MVP award on the water polo
team as a junior… Named the water polo team’s
Most Improved Player as a sophomore… Was coached
in both sports by former Falcon Joel Francisco…
Personal:
Most memorable moment was when he scored seven
goals, with six assists and four steals in a
game and was named the Los Angeles Times
Player of the Day… Is working on a minor in
photography and would like to transfer to UC
Santa Cruz… Father played football at Cantwell
High… Likes to watch movies in his spare time…
Nicknamed “AJ”… Has one sibling – Honesti… Is
the son of Armando Abrego and Debra Velasco…
