Cerritos College freshman diver
Nashon Hull (Bellflower
HS) placed fourth in the
1-meter and 3-meter competitions
at the South Coast Conference
Diving Championships, which were
held at El Camino College over
the weekend. All of the divers
from Southern California were
also on hand, with Hull coming
in 14th place in the
3-meter and 18th
place in the 1-meter. The top
six finishers and two alternates
advanced to the state
championships, which will be
held at Saddleback College.
The Falcons
had five divers in the
competition, which changed their
format from 11 dives to six
dives. The change in format was
to benefit the beginning divers,
who had less competitive
experience.
Sophomore
Luis Salgado (California
HS) placed fifth in the SCC
in the 1-meter and sixth in the
3-meter, while sophomore
Steven Baughman (Western
HS) placed fifth in the
3-meter and eighth in the
1-meter. None of the other
Falcon divers finished in the
top 20 in Southern California.
Rounding out the Cerritos divers
were freshman
Mark Zuniga (Downey
HS), who placed 10th
in both events, while freshman
Chris Argueta (Cathedral
HS) placed 12th
in the 1-meter event.
