Competed in the 100-yard breaststroke…..
Cerritos Water Polo (2007):
Named All-South Coast Conference Honorable
Mention as a goalkeeper… Appeared in 26 games
and made 205 saves and had 17 steals… Also
played a game in the field and scored once while
adding an assist… Posted a season-high 16 saves
against Ventura College and had 15 saves against
Mt. San Antonio… Registered 13 saves in three
other games and finished with three more games
of double-digit saves…..
Long Beach City College
(2006): Was a back-up
goalie for the Vikings, who won the state
championship…..
Downey HS:
Spent four years on the water polo and swimming
teams… Was a 1st Team All-San Gabriel
Valley League selection in water polo as a
senior, while also earning the team’s Most
Valuable Player Award… Selected the league’s
Most Valuable Player his junior season after
recording 346 saves… Also selected to the Press
Telegram Dream Team… Named 3rd Team
All-CIF and was named the team’s MVP… Team won
the league championship one year…..
Personal:
Most memorable moment was when he made 16 saves
in a CIF Playoff win against Whittier High… Had
to make three blocks in a row in the final 30
seconds to secure the win… Would like to
transfer to the University of Laverne, Whittier
College or Loyola Marymount University… Aspires
to teach high school history and coach water
polo… Likes to go to the beach and surfing in
his spare time… Has two siblings – Meghan (13)
and Dominick (12)… Is the son of Oscar and
Monerva Nevarez… Born in West Covina, CA on
August 29, 1988….. |
