Cerritos Swimming (2010):
Turned in one of the most impressive seasons in
the history of the college… In addition to being
named Swimmer of the Meet at the State
Championships, where he won three state
championships, he also set four individual
school records and swam a leg of two relay
school championships… Named All-American in
three individual events and three relay races…
Posted the second fastest time in the country in
the 200-yard IM (1:52.33), 200-yard breaststroke
(2:01.96) and had the fifth fastest time in the
country in the 100-yard breaststroke at 56.59,
which all won him state titles… Finished the
team by being named the California Community
College Athletic Association (CCCAA) Male
Athlete of the Month for May, 2010… Also set the
school record in the 400-yard IM at 4:14.97,
while he swam a leg of the record-breaking
200-yard freestyle relay (1:27.65) and 800-yard
freestyle relay (7:08.07) teams… Won the South
Coast Conference championship in each of the
events he won the state championship, while he
also swam on the conference-winning 400-yard
medley relay team…..
Cerritos Water Polo (2010):
Concluded one of the best water polo careers in
Falcon history… Finished in the school’s
top-five career marks with 131 goals (2nd),
68 assists (5th), 112 steals (2nd),
65 ejections drawn (5th) and 21 field
blocks (3rd)… Named All-American, 1st
Team All-Southern California, as well as the
South Coast Conference Tri-Most Valuable Player…
Finished the season with 68 goals, 30 assists
and 48 steals… His goals total was the
ninth-most in a season, as were his steals…
Posted a season-high six goals, with two assists
and four steals against Mt. San Antonio College,
while he had six goals and three steals against
American River College… Recorded four goals in
six other games, while he had a season-high six
steals against Merced College… Had three goals,
two assists and three steals against San Diego
Mesa College, as well as three goals and three
steals in a game against Long Beach City
College… Posted four assists in another game
against Mt. San Antonio and had five steals
against Cuesta College…..
Cerritos Water Polo (2009):
Named 2nd Team All-Southern
California, while also being selected 1st
Team All-South Coast Conference… Earned the
team’s Defensive Player of the Year… Led the
team with 64 steals, which is the fourth-most in
a single season in school history… Also finished
second on the team with 63 goals, which is the
eighth-most in a season, while he also led the
team with 38 assists… Scored five goals with
four steals against Santa Rosa College, while he
had five goals and five steals against El Camino
College… Also scored five times with four steals
against Mt. San Antonio College… Recorded three
goals, with an assist and a season-high seven
steals against both Fullerton College and Orange
Coast College… Had a season-high four assists
against Los Angeles Valley College…..
Cerritos HS:
Was a member of three CIF championship teams, as
well as three league championship teams… As a
senior, he was named the CIF Player of the Year
as well as the Press Telegram Player of
the Year… Named All-American, as well as the
Suburban League Most Valuable Player and his
team’s MVP… Voted the team’s MVP his junior
year… Spent three years on the water polo team
and four on the swimming team… Named the swim
team’s MVP as a junior…..
Personal:
Would like to transfer to USC… Has two sisters –
Raquel (18), who was on the Cerritos water polo
team, and Katherine (16)… Is the son of Carlos
and Susan Gabayeron… Born in Lynwood, CA on
