Cerritos College freshman men's tennis player
Doug Edwards (
Western HS) picked up two more wins on Friday at the Ojai Tournament and has now advanced to the quarterfinals. Edwards, the #8-seeded player is scheduled to face top-seeded Yair Banuelos of Riverside College at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. In the Falcons non-conference match against the Tigers earlier in the year, the two did not face each other in singles play.

Jason Wall (
Lakewood HS) posted a 6-3, 6-2 win over Josh Diaz and Shane Medina of Diablo Valley College to move to the round of 16. The team, seeded #4 in the tournament, then followed that with a 7-5, 6-1 win over 13th-seeded Tiago Hayashi and Kristian Zak of College of the Desert. In the quarterfinals, the duo will play #5-seeded Phil Graham and Adam Hopkins on Saturday at 3:30 p.m.
In his first singles match on Friday, Edwards defeated Jason Sinkoff of Palomar College, 6-3, 6-0 and followed that with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Fresno City College's Troy Kellenberger.
