Cerritos College freshman tennis players

Jason Wall
(
Lakewood HS) posted a 7-6, 6-1 win over #5-seeded Phil Graham and
Adam Hopkins to advance to the semi-finals of the Ojai Tournament on
Saturday. With the win, the duo now advances to the semi-finals on Sunday
and will face top-seeded Waylon Bennett and Olumide Sherman-Norman of
Grossmont College at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday. With a win, they will advance to
the championships, which are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. that day.
The duo, which won the South Coast Conference doubles
championship, fought back from an early deficit in the first set and came
out of it with a win. They rode that momentum and easily secured the victory
with an 6-1 win in the second set.
Edwards was also active as a singles player, but was
eliminated in the quarterfinals, 1-6, 2-6 by #1-seeded Yair Banuelos of
Riverside Community College.
