For the third
time this
season, the
Cerritos College
men's tennis
team swept past
Mt. San Antonio
College in their
South Coast
Conference match
on Thursday. The
Falcons (15-1
overall, 7-0 SCC),
who are ranked
#2 in Southern
California and
clinched their
fourth straight
SCC title, will
now finish off
their regular
season next
week, as they
host El Camino
College on
Tuesday and then
travel to Long
Beach City
College on
Thursday.
Even with
several of the
singles players
moving around on
the ladder, the
Falcons lost
just two games,
as five of the
six players
recorded 6-0,
6-0 wins.
Carlos Gomez
(Kennedy HS)
competed in the
top spot for the
second time this
year, shut out
his opponent, as
did
Doug Edwards
(Western HS),
Jason Wall
(Lakewood HS),
Kschris Anda
(California
HS) and
Nik Bote
(Mayfair HS).
David Sim
(Cerritos HS),
in his second
match this
season in the #2
position, posted
a 6-0, 6-2
victory.
In doubles play,
Bote and Anda
paired up for
the second time
and won, 8-0 in
the #2 spot,
with top singles
team Edwards and
Wall coming away
with an 8-2 win.
Gomez and Sim
finished off the
win with an 8-1
victory.
