After the first day of the Southern California Regional

alive, while one of the four singles players has advanced to the round of
16. The tournament, which runs through Saturday, is being held at Riverside
Community College.
Freshmen

of Mt. San Jacinto College. They are now scheduled to face Brian Howath and
Joao Toledo of Grossmont College, who are no strangers to the Falcon duo.
The Griffin duo clinched the team victory in the Southern California

Joining them in the Round of 16 after they each recorded
upset wins in the second round are Bote and Jun, along with freshmen

at 1:00 p.m.
In singles action, only Edwards made it through the day
without a loss. As the #7-seed, he earned a bye in the first round before a
3-6, 6-2, 6-3 win over Diego Almeida of Ventura College. He is now slated to
face Waylon Bennett of Grossmont College, who is their #2-singles player. Of
the other singles players that competed on Thursday, only Gomez won his
first match, defeating Gustavo Rodriguez, 6-1, 6-2. He was then defeated by
#8-seeded Taylor Witt (1-6, 1-6) of Mt. San Jacinto College, which relegated
him to the consolation round. Gomez will now play against Alvarado, while
Bote and Wall will square off against each other in the consolation round
after losing their first match. Wall was defeated by James Preston of
Ventura College, 4-6, 0-6, with Bote losing by default after he received a
