Cerritos (2008):
Had a great freshman season… In addition to
winning the South Coast Conference singles
championship and teaming with Jason Wall to win
the SCC doubles championship, the two became the
first Falcons doubles team to advance to the
state championship match… The duo, who was
ranked #4 in the state, pulled off several
exciting wins, including a three-set marathon in
the state semi-finals to reach the championship
match… The lack of rest between matches affected
them, and they were defeated in the finals…
Edwards and Wall went 27-5 on the year, while
also excelling in singles play… As the team’s
top singles player, he went 26-4 on the year,
but was upset in the third round of the Southern
California Championships… Also reached the
quarterfinals of the Ojai Tournament in singles,
while he teamed with Wall to reach the
semi-finals…..
Western HS:
Spent four years on the tennis team as their #1
singles player… Named the team’s Most Valuable
Player all four seasons, as well as being named
the Orange League Most Valuable Player for four
consecutive years… Helped the team win the
league title as a senior, while he won the
league singles title his junior and senior
years… Posted a 30-0 record his junior and
senior year, while going 29-1 as a sophomore and
20-10 his freshman season…..
Personal:
Most memorable moments were when he won the
Orange League championship as a senior and when
he defeated Christian Issp, 7-6 his senior year…
Would like to transfer to Cal State Long Beach…
Is studying to be a chiropractor… His mother
played tennis at Long Beach City… Likes to play
video games in his spare time… Has one sister –
Sarah (13)… Is the son of Doug and Kelly
Edwards… Born in Long Beach, CA on July 6,
1989….. |
