With the end of the regular season right around the
corner, the Cerritos College men's tennis team is
preparing to compete in the South Coast Conference
Tournament next week. The Falcons continued to play
well on Tuesday when they travelled to Mt. San
Antonio College and posted an 8-1 conference win.
The victory improves the team's record to 12-4
overall and they finished 9-3 in conference action. The team will
now enter the South Coast Conference Tournament.
Opening with doubles against the Mounties, Cerritos
picked up three quick wins to give them a sizeable
advantage. At the top, sophomores

Edwards (Western HS) and
Jason Wall (Lakewood HS)
posted an 8-4 win, as did sophomore
David Sim
(Cerritos HS) and freshman
Will Cho
(Whitney HS) in the #3 spot. Sophomores
Nik
Bote (Mayfair HS) and
Matt Jun
(Cerritos HS) recorded an easy 8-1 victory.
In singles play, Sim (6-1, 6-0) and Jun (6-1, 6-0)
dominated their competition in the #5 and #6 positions,
respectively. It was more of the same at the top, with
Edwards (6-3, 6-0) and Wall (6-1, 6-3) both winning in
the first two positions. Bote also played well in
recording a 6-1, 6-4 win, while sophomore
Carlos Gomez
(Kennedy HS) went to three sets before dropping
a 7-6 (1), 0-6, 9-11 decision in the #4 spot.
