Although their
four-year South Coast Conference undefeated streak
came to an end this season, the Cerritos College
men's tennis team was seeded #3 for the upcoming
Southern California Regional Team Playoffs. The
Falcons (12-4), who came in second place in
conference action, will host Riverside College at
2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Of the top four seeds in the
regional playoffs, three are from the South Coast
Conference.
This will be the
second meeting of the year between the Falcons and
Tigers, who met back on February 10, with Cerritos
posting a 6-3 win at home. In that match, Riverside
was ranked #1 in the state at the time, but Cerritos
dominated at the bottom of the singles ladder to
take control of the match. But the biggest win on
the day was a 6-4, 2-6, 11-9 by sophomore
Doug
Edwards (Western HS) over
defending singles state champion Daniel Coehlo in
the #1 singles match.
