The Cerritos College mens
track and field team dominated the competition at the
Chabot Invitational on Saturday, as the Falcons won five
events and had athletes place athletes in three other
events. The team will now compete in the Mt. San Antonio
Relays this Saturday starting at 10:00 a.m.
Leading the way for the
Falcons was a quartet of relay teams that all won their
events. The 400-meter relay team posted a time of 43.05,
while the 1600-meter relay team outdistanced all the
other squads by posting a time of 3:25.70. In addition,
the 1600-meter sprint medley team and the distance
medley relay team also came in first place.
Individually, sophomore
Deangelo Mingo
(Desert Pines, NV HS/Lassen College) won the
100-meters in a time of 10.90.
The other Falcon to win their
event was sophomore
Joshua
Muwwakkil (Warren HS) in the high jump
with a height of 6 4, while he also placed third in
the long jump (21 4½) and sixth in the triple jump at
41 9½. A trio of Falcons finished in the top eight in
the 800 meters, with sophomore
Carlos
Santamaria (Paramount HS) coming in
second place in a time of 1:58.15. Freshman
Christopher Thomas and sophomore
Dennis
Drisdom (Dominguez HS) placed fourth and
eighth, respectively. Sophomore
Ramon White
(Lynwood HS) came in second place in the
110-meter hurdles in a time of 15.90, while freshman
teammate
Anthony Harbor (Bellflower HS) came in
fourth place.
