Muwwakkil (Warren HS) came in 14th
place at the Southern California Decathlon Championship,
which was held Tuesday and Wednesday at Moorpark
College. With is 5386 points, Muwwakkil missed out on
advancing to the state championships. Specializing in
the long jump and high jump, Muwwakkil excelled, as he
won the high jump at 2.10 meters, while his distance of
6.61 meters in the long jump earned him third place.
As a freshman two seasons
ago, Muwwakkil placed eighth in the Southern California
Championships in the high jump. For the last two
seasons, the Falcons won the Southern California and
State Championship in the decathlon with Christopher
Richardson, who is now at Cal State University, Long
Beach.
