03.27.06 - FALCON ATHLETES EXCEL AT LA VERNE INVITATIONAL

            The Cerritos College men’s track and field team left a strong impression while competing at the University of LaVerne Invitational on Saturday, as the Falcons won four events and had athletes place second in two other events. This Saturday, the team will get another chance to compete with four-year schools, as they travel north to take part in the Stanford Invitational.

            Heading the list of outstanding performances was sophomore Brandon Johnson (Cabrillo HS), who won the 5000-meter race in a time of 15:38.63, while teammates Jamie Buenrostro (Downey HS) and Vincent Rojas (Long Beach Millikan HS) came in fourth and fifth, respectively. Sophomore Ramon White (Lynwood HS) captured the 400-meter hurdles, while sophomore teammate Antoine Revell (Serra HS) came in third place. The 400-meter relay team also came in first place, as did sophomore Lyndon Wyse (Dorsey HS) in the triple jump. Sophomore Allen Gamble (Pinellas Park, FL HS) came in second place in the 100 meters, while sophomore Rafer Weaver (Banning HS) was a second place finisher in the 800 meters.
