The Cerritos College
men's track and field
team excelled in the
field events at the
South Coast Conference
Championships on Friday
afternoon at Falcon
Stadium and used those
points to secure a
second place finish. The
team compiled 121.5 team
points and trailed only
conference champion Mt.
San Antonio College, who
had 202 team points. The
top six from all of the
events that were held
now advance to the
Southern California
Prelims, which will be
held on Saturday,
starting at 9:00 a.m. at UC San Diego.
Leading the way for the
Falcons in the field
events were the trio of
freshman

sophomore
Benjamin Smith
(Cypress HS)
and freshman
Cody Lewis
(Lakewood HS),
who collectively
qualified six times.
Farrow won the discus
with a throw of 139' 3,

second at 46' 6". while
Lewis (157' 7") and

in the 110-meter high
hurdles, as he won the
event posting a time of
14.92, but got a slow
start in the 400-meter
hurdles and recovered
enough to place second
with a time of 54.22.
Freshman distance runner
Daniel Clifford-Sorenson
(Lakewood HS)
won two events, the
10,000 meters (32:51.73)
and the 3000 meter
steeplechase (school
record 9:15.38), while
he also found time to
come in third place in
the 5000 meters at
15:34.37. Freshman

3000 meter steeplechase,
with a fifth place
showing in 10:23.13,

200 meters (22.00) and
sophomore
Dennis Drisdom
(Dominguez HS)
placing third in the 800
meters in a time of
1:56.48.
In
the relay races, the
quartet of Dill, Harbor,
freshman
Marcus Stripling
(Santa Fe HS)
and Drisdom posted a time
