Lewis (Lakewood HS) placed eighth
in the Southern California Decathlon
Championships on Tuesday and Wednesday at Falcon
Stadium, but missed out on advancing to the state
championships. He amassed 5399 points and earned
one team point for the Falcons in the state
championships, which will be held on May 18-19
in San Mateo. The top six decathletes advanced
to the state championships.
Of the 10 events that comprise the
decathlon, Lewis excelled in the javelin with a
toss of 164' 8" (third place) and pole vault at
12' 6" (fourth place). Additionally, Lewis came
in seventh place in the discus at 100' 5" and
eighth place in the shot put at 34' 6".
